In 1822, a very large chinese junk, the "Tek Sing" struck Belvidere Shoal and sank in the South China Sea .She carried silk, tea, timber, porcelain and a human cargo of about 1,600 labourers bound for sugar plantation in Java. Also on board were merchants and crew of several hundred, a total of around 2,000 people. Most drowned,a loss of life more than that of the Titanic, with only 190 being saved and taken to Borneo.

These are the actual relics salvaged from the "Tek Sing" (True Star), originating from Dehau, China, and  dating from the Qing period, which began in 1644.

The frame relic comes with a certificate of authenticity which states-Quote"...Each piece is an original, recovered from the 1999 salvage operation..., as can  be verified by the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Government of Indonesia, Jakarta." End of Quote.
